“Written for Juilliard flutist Sooah Jeon, this work is about the excitement of beginning college and living in New York City. The title refers to my explorations of the area around NYU and Greenwich Village. Also, the piece heavily incorporates jazz elements such as bebop motifs and extended harmonies reminiscent of George Gershwin and Bill Evans.”

“There was a time when I was a small child, sitting at the dinner table with my parents and three siblings – two older brothers, one in middle school, one in high school, and my sister, the oldest, also in high school. During the meal, my sister abruptly turned to my brother and said “stop breathing so loud, do you have to breathe that loud?…”
