Airy & Louise

“Developing this music brought out a burst of nostalgia and memories. The beginning and the end of the piece remind me of entering and exiting camp. The mysterioso-like sections are middle-of-the-night escapades or scary camp folktale stories. The triumphant return of the theme sounds like my Green Team achieving victory in the campwide “olympics” at the end of my first summer.

In other ways, this music is also the love story of Lillie and Aaron Straus, the founders of camps Airy & Louise; It’s a commemoration for the 100-year old dining hall that burned down early one morning; It’s the contemplations in a quiet camper’s mind as he walks the infamous camp hill. Airy & Louise is the story of your own camp, your own escape - wherever that is, whatever it is, whoever it is.”
